Angel lives in Lemasusu, Kenya, where herds and crops are perishing due to drought

Water is Essential for Life!

Let me introduce Angel, the daughter of a Maasai tribesman I met while traveling in Kenya.  They are from the Lemasusu Village near the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro.  Because of the severe drought, Angel’s future is bleak. The lack of clean water forces the women and children of this village to walk 9 miles to the nearest source of clean water and 9 miles home again, so that their families have water.  Their children are unable to attend school since they must assist their families. The ongoing drought in Africa continues to put thousands of lives at risk. The 600 men, women and children of the village of Lemasusu in Kenya are no  exception.

Three-quarters of their herds of goat and cattle and most of their crops have succumbed to the drought, leaving them without food or a means of income.

In spite of this devastation, the Maasai are fully committed to the regeneration of their herds and livelihood, and to the education of all of their children to ensure their futures.

Recently, the Lemasusu Village site has been surveyed and found appropriate for drilling a well.  Building a village water well for Lemasusu to have access to clean water is essential for their immediate survival and sustainable future, ensuring long-term food security and self-reliance.

Children will again have the opportunity to attend school and build better futures for themselves and their families.  Please help Angel and her friends to get back in school and to have the life giving necessity of fresh clean water.
