Kisozi village is a rural community found in Makulubita sub county Luwero district. It’s one of the underserved villages in the district because of its hard-to- reach location. The community lacks most of the social services with almost less than 10% access to safe and clean water. The big population of almost 2,000 people (200 households) all depend on surface streams located in swamps as a source of their consumable water. Unfortunately, these streams contain highly contaminated run off water. The nearest source of clean water is a borehole located 4km away but most people can’t access it because of the long distance and long lines at the borehole. Bright Angels Junior School is a community school located in Kisozi village. The school has 412 children and they too depend on dirty water from the streams. The administration of this school got to know about the Community Funded Well Program after visiting Arise and Shine Junior School in Makulubita (Arise and Shine Junior School Makulubita is one of the first beneficiaries of the program). The school administration expressed their interest to participate in the program. They were trained and also they managed to mobilize with the community and raise their down payment. The borehole will be drilled in the village, about 700 meters away from the school. It will serve both the school and a community.
