Amina loses 6 hours each day collecting water in Kiteje, Kenya

Kiteje Village is on the coast of Kenya in Kwale County. With a population of nearly 700 people, most villagers are farmers and do agriculture for cash crops and animal farming. Water is the main challenge in the area.

Amina, with a young child on her back, has been spending 6 hours a day fetching water for home use.

The majority get their water from a dam and share the same source with livestock, so water-related illness is common. Hand-dug wells are common but dry up during the dry season. Boreholes will be a safer water source and the community will save money on medical bills and other costs associated with dirty water. Children miss school due to water challenges in the area and hope to enjoy clean water’s blessings.

This project is managed by Village Drill Engineers Kenya.

Bless Amina and her young child
