Sharing a dam with livestock in Vyongwani, Kenya

Vyongwani Village is on the coast of Kenya in Kwale County. With a population of nearly 1,200 people, most villagers are farmers and do agriculture for cash crops and animal farming. Water is the main challenge in the area. Some hand-dug wells dry up during the dry season. Other than the hand-dug well, the majority get their water from a dam and share the same source with livestock, so water-related illness is common.

Both children and grown ups are affected by the contaaminated water.  Boreholes will be a safer water source and the community will save money on medical bills and other costs associated with dirty water. Children miss school due to water challenges in the area and they hope to enjoy clean water’s blessings someday.

Drilling has begun.  Let’s get this project funded!
