Namakoma, Uganda

Namakoma Village is a rural community found in Nakifuma, Mukono, Uganda. The village has 102 households and they all depend on water from surface ponds located in a nearby sugar plantation. This water is very contaminated, often with fertilizers that are applied in the sugarcane plantation. This is a very big health threat to the community members. If the villagers have to access clean safe water, they have to walk more than 3kms to the next village that has a borehole.

While our drilling crew was working at nearby community funded well, some villagers from Namakoma visited the site and inquired to know about how they can get a well for their village as well. We scheduled a training with them.

Early this month of March, we were able to have a successful meeting with the villagers, trained them on how the Community Funded Well Program works, and they were interested to participate. They have since managed to collect the funds required as an initial instalment.

Our drilling crew has visited the village and identified a suitable point for us to drill with the Village Drill.
