Nakyeka is a rural community with more than 150 households. Nakyeka CU Primary school has up to 350 children.
Everyone here is forced to use dirty water collected from ponds far away in the swamps. To access safe water, one has to walk 2.5 miles (4km) to a borehole in the neighboring village. The lack of clean water for the community contributes greatly to the reoccurring cycle of poverty and sickness, from one generation to another.
This community has banded together and collected a down payment to participate and fund their own well through the community funded program. We applaud their efforts and want to support them. The new well will be shared with the neighboring households.
