Muyomba village is a rural community in Kyazanga, Lwengo, Central Uganda.
The community has a population of about 1,500 people who are all peasants that engaging in subsistence farming. Because of the nature of their topography, the population depends on surface water from dams that are recharged with rain water. These dams are mainly located in low lying areas far away from households. Women and children will walk up to around 3kms to access this stagnant and dirty water.
The community got to know about the Community Funded Well program through a website referral. We visited the community and trained them on how the program runs. They now have been able to raise a down payment and an appropriate site has been chosen to start drilling.
