Mnyanzeni Village, Kenya, population 1,200

Mnyanzeni village is situated northeast of Kwale and is one of the villages in a city struggling with several challenges. The marketing team visited the town and realized a water problem in the area. With a population of about 1,200 people, many homesteads don’t have access to clean water so they either walk for about 3km or more or use rainwater for about 3 to 4 months a year. There are few hand dug and drilled wells but still it’s not enough for the growing population.

Mnyanzeni villagers were so excited to learn that the Village Drill machine is a tool that can drill well at an affordable cost. Community members have worked so hard despite hard economic times to raise part of the drilling funds and they have qualified for the community-funded well program. In less than a week drilling team will hopefully hit clean and we hope they will enjoy having clean water closer.
