Mkokoni village is located in Kwale county (near Mombasa, Kenya) with a population of about a thousand. Economic activity is mostly crop farming and a bit of animal farming. Water is a challenge especially since Kenya is in the midst of an historic drought. When it does rain, water harvesting is common and villagers get water from some hand dug wells, and seasonal dams which are contaminated.
When one of our Village Drill teams approached this village and explained our Community Funded Well program they became very excited. Not only will WHOlives be digging a borehole, we are also assisting this village to expand their chicken farm. With your support, WHOlives is bringing Water, Health and Opportunity to another village.
