Kibbuye is a rural and remote village in Namuganga Subcounty, Kayunga district, Uganda. The village has approximately 120 households and the majority engage in subsistence farming where farmers grow crops and raise livestock primarily to feed themselves and their families, with little to no surplus for trade. There is one school in this Village.
Access to safe and clean water is a big challenge for this community. There is no protected water source in the village and people depend on open, surface water ponds. These ponds are located far away from homes in swamps. Many children in this village don’t go to school because they are always walking to and from water sources. Those who go to school are often absent because of sickness, especially Typhoid which is waterborne.
One of the community leaders visited our drilling team while they were working in another village in the region. The community were trained about the Community Funded Well Program and they have been able to raise the down payment. An appropriate point for drilling has been selected and work is set to begin.
