Word about the WHOlives community funded well program is spreading!
Mirembe Kiyaji Village is is a rural and remote community in Kiyaji parish, Kasawo subcounty, Mukono district, Uganda. WHOlives Village Drill team have been drilling community funded wells nearby and this village has requested we bring water to them as well.
This community currently has no source of clean water. They walk 3km to a swamp to collect dirty
water that they share with animals especially cattle.
A school called Mirembe Junior school is a located in this village and the school children too suffer
similar water challenges.
Having known about the community funded well program, they invited us to train them. They
were very excited to know about this opportunity to work together to solve their water challenge.
They have been able to collect a deposit, so that work can start to construct for them a
safe water source in form of a borehole.
A site has been selected in the Middle of the village, where all households and the school can easily
access the water.
