Kitaruni Village in Kenya

Kitaruni Village is on the coast of Kenya in Kwale County. With a population of about 350 people, most of the villagers are farmers and they do agriculture for cash crops and animal farming as well. Water is the main challenge in the area and the few hand-dug wells dry up during the dry season. The majority of the people get their water from a dam they share with livestock. Water related illness is common.
Boreholes will be a safer source of water and the community will save money on medical bills and other costs associated with dirty water.  WHOlives will be contracting with Village Drill Engineers for this project.

Water tainted by manure. Yuck!
