Kirangira Village, Uganda

Kirangira village is a rural and remote community located in  Kimenyedde sub county in Mukono district of Central Uganda.  The village has a population of approximately 1,500 people living in 300 households. Community members currently have to walk 2.5 km to collect water from nearby borehole or collect water from swamps.   These challenges are leading to increased cases of diseases caused by contaminated water.  School aged children are also suffering because of the need to carry heavy jerry cans filled with water for long distances.  The need to fetch water every day leaves them less time for school and play.   After learning about our Community Funded Well program, they approached us and asked if we could help.  Our drilling partner met with the Village and everyone is so exited at the prospect of clean water close by.

WHOlives will provide a small grant and an interest free loan which will allow this community to have access to clean water for the very first time.

End the search for water.
