Kilindiru in Majengo Western Kenya , is a rural community facing ongoing challenges in accessing clean and safe water. Previous efforts to establish reliable water systems have been unsuccessful due to poor management, lack of community ownership, and inadequate infrastructure.
This well drilling project is expected to directly benefit approximately 345 households ,including school-going children and other vulnerable groups.
Currently, many residents depend on seasonal streams, shallow wells, and other unsafe water sources that are often contaminated, especially during rainy seasons. Community members, particularly women and children, walk 2 -3 Kilometres daily to fetch water, spending several hours each day searching for this basic necessity. This affects school attendance, farming activities, and household income generation.
Our July 2026 Impact Mission walked a long distance, slipping down a muddy hill, to the current water source.
The proposed borehole well will provide a sustainable source of clean and safe water, improving public health, sanitation, food production, school attendance, and overall economic productivity within the Kilindiru Community.
