Kasrunda is a small community with a good population of about 300 to 500 households located in Kisumu County.
Among the challenges the community faces is access to clean water all year round. Residents travel about 2 KM (1.24 miles) to collect dirty contaminated water. The main water source is an open dam that came about as a result of road works excavation. As a result, rainwater is trapped here and residents take advantage.
The use of these untreated contaminated water results in sickness. This leads to expensive medical treatment for those who can afford and unfortunately, some die due to water-connected illnesses.
The community, through Moses Odong who has donated space and is a community coordinator, is mobilizing itself to have a borehole within the community to get access to clean water.
