Provide Clean Water to Save Lives and Promote Girls Education in Dry-land Villages in Malawi
80% of Malawi’s total population of 18million people live in rural areas where access to clean water is a daily struggle. And 43% of this population live in dry-land areas that experience acute water scarcity that put millions of lives at the risk of water borne diseases and loss of productivity.
Footsteps Africa is a local NGO that works in dry-land villages in Malawi, where women and girls walk more than four hours to collect water from seasonal shallow wells. To solve this water scarcity crisis, Footsteps Africa wants to drill 20 water boreholes in 2021 that will provide affordable and sustainable access to safe water for drinking. Their work will help 18,000 people have access to clean water which will bring health and opportunity to their communities.
