Namaliri Village is located in Kasawo Subcounty, Mukono district Uganda. It’s approximately 60km north of Kampala City.
Currently, women have to walk 3km away from their homes to a swamp to collect water that is dirty. An old and poorly functioning protected spring and a seasonal surface pond are the main points where people collect water.
For the past 3 years, Namaliri village has been asking SUUBI Community Projects Uganda for a borehole where they can access clean water. However because of the many requests that SUUBI receives , they have been unable to serve them.
Recently SUUBI introduced to them our Community Funded Well Program. The villagers were very happy with this opportunity to be able to have a clean water source and pay for it in instalments. They organized themselves very quickly, formed a water user committee and were able to sign a contract to participate in the program.
A suitable site has been identified and the villagers are ready to receive the drillers anytime.
The drilled well will be in the middle of the village where most households can access it by walking an average of 800m. The borehole will help 82 households and a primary school with 478 pupils.
We are honored to be partnering with SUUBI Community Projects on another well project in Uganda. Their Village Drill team is making a huge impact on the lives of the most vulnerable among us.
