Anai Village community is located in Lira in Northern Uganda. There are over 300 households and one communty school. The communty is faced with a number of challenges that affect both health and economic growth. Lack of a reliable water source for both school children and community home consumption contributed to at least one death. Poor academic performance of children at school and poor hygiene generally is also contributed to lack of water.
The community treks 2km (1.25 miles) to access clean water from one government borehole that is often crowded with over 70 people at any given time. The next spring well is 1km away.
