Namasiga Kasana is a small village in Lwero district, Uganda, 70km away from Kampala. The population is 320 households.
There is a high number of farmers in the local community. Both livestock and agriculture is their main source of income. The area community is faced with the challenges of high drought and a lack of safe, clean water. Only one drilled borehole is serving over 600 people, leaving the rest to go to the stream for water which they share with animals. Mr Sengendo, the vet doctor and a village leader, proposed to 10 of the village members to form a group to drill for water at a low cost to support the community.
The drilling has begun.
