Mayangayanga, Uganda

Mayangayanga is a semi urban community located in Kimenyedde subcounty, Mukono District Uganda. The village has a population of almost 2000 people and about 4 community schools. All the villagers and schools currently have to share 1 available borehole, or go to surface ponds in the swamps. The borehole always has long lines of people waiting for water, and besides, its more than 2 km away from most households. While our team was drilling at a nearby village, some staff from Wader Primary school, one of the schools in the village, approached and asked to know about our services. They were trained about the Community Funded Well Program. The school and community agreed to participate in the program, and collected an initial deposit. An appropriate drilling site has been located in the village, near the school, where a borehole can be shared.
