Buryanti Village is a rural community located in Ntunda sub-county, Mukono district, Uganda. The village has 140
households and a school with 343 pupils.
The school and the general community collect water from a surface pond. This dirty and contaminated
water is all they have, and so they use it for all purposes including drinking and bathing.S
The school registers many cases of absenteeism due to sickness related to water, especially Typhoid.
Lack of safe water in the village has kept many households in poverty and suffering.
The school head teacher got to know about the Suubi Community Funded Well Program and expressed
their interest. A program training was offered to the school and village leaders.
They have been able to raise $278 as a down payment to participate in the program.
A site has been selected, suitable for drilling with the VD, and in a location where both the school and
community will conveniently access the well.
**Update** St Mary’s Primary School in Selly Oak, Birmingham, UK raised over $1,300 for this project! Part of their fundraiser was selling cakes during the King’s coronation. Please support these children by funding the remainder of this project today.
