1200 people in Kayunga, Uganda have mobilized

Kayunga village is a rural and remote community found in Kimenyedde Subcounty, Mukono district. The village has 140 households and a population of about 1200 people.
Children and women have to walk at least 2km to collect water from surface ponds since the nearest source of clean water is in a nearby village 4kms away. This water from surface ponds is very contaminated and unsafe and thus a cause of many waterborne illnesses.

The village has for many years requested help from government, NGOs and other humanitarian aid agencies, but to no success.

They got to know about the community funded well program last year, and they have since been mobilizing themselves to raise a down payment so as to benefit from the program. They are very glad that finally they raised $500.

An appropriate site has been identified and work is set to begin.
