The water problem in this community is serious. Water is a long distance from the homesteads. The main water sources are rivers, stagnant dams, and rain water during the rainy season. All of these water sources are unfit for human and animal use.
School children spend most of their time helping parents fetch this valuable commodity, water. In the process, lessons are missed and sadly some drop out of school. Illnesses are caused as a result of using contaminated water. Large medical bills results which most families can’t afford.
Oketch community group came together to find solutions to problems facing their community. Group members considered water problems bedeviling the community. The group heard about a Village Drill well that was done in the neighboring community. They then invited Wholives to explain the project.
The success of this project is vital to alleviate these challenges.
