Bukwiri, Uganda

Bukwiri is a village in Namuganga subcounty, Mukono district. The village has up to 200 households and a population of about 1000 people. The only source of water for this village is a borehole, 4km away in the next village. Otherwise, the people are forced to use dirty water from surface ponds.

Typhoid and other water related illnesses are very rampant in the village. Many children miss school because of illness. Families spend a lot on medical bills.

The leadership of the village approached our Village Drill crew after learning about the community funded well program. They were able to commit with an initial deposit to get the work started.

An appropriate site has been identified in the village, and we hope to successfully drill and construct a borehole where it can easily be accessed.
