LIGHT URIRI has a school and orphanage in Migori, Kenya. The school was formed in 2009 to feed, cloth, shelter and educate orphaned, abandoned, street children, and abused and exploited girls. They empower children through awareness creation, advocacy, education and training. They currently support 550 vulnerable children out of which 23 boys and 27 girls are residents at Light Home of Hope. They are located in Uriri, Migori County in KENYA.
The Light Uriri School is hiring a Village Drill crew to dig a borehole at their school complex. WHOlives is donating half of the money needed for the well and providing an interest free community funded loan for the balance which will allow this wonderful school to bring fresh, clean water right to their facility. This partnership will help to maintain good paying jobs for the drill crew and will also create opportunity instead of dependency for the school and the children they serve. Please help us raise the needed funds for this amazing school!
Update for December 2020. This well is almost complete. We ran into some unexpected problems which have raised the cost for this well to $6,350. The school should have clean water waiting for them when they return for classes in January 2021.
