9-year-old Noah is the sole water collector for his family at Kayonza, Uganda

Kayonza Village is located in Kayunga district, Central Uganda. The community has about 200 homes and 2 schools. The schools and the community don’t have any source of clean water. They all depend on water collected from surface ponds in swamps and these ponds are very far to walk.

Much of this year, we have been drilling in this region and right now many of the community members and local leaders know about the Community Funded Well Program. Each village wants their own borehole to serve their people.

Noah, 9 years old lives in Kayonza Village with his parents and 2 younger siblings. As the eldest child of the home, he has a duty to collect water. Unfortunately he has to walk 2km to collect water from a stream down in the swamp. He has delayed to start school because he is busy all day walking up and down to collect water.
