Economic productivity will soar with a new well in Bukulunya, Kenya

Bukulunya Community in Vihiga County is a rural area facing persistent challenges in accessing clean and safe water. County and national government water connections efforts have failed. Other donated wells have failed to poor management, corruption and no proper mobilization on ownership. This well drilling project is estimated to directly benefit approximately 150 to 250 household residents including school-going children and other vulnerable groups.

Currently, many community members rely on seasonal streams, shallow wells, and unprotected water sources that are often contaminated, especially during rainy seasons.

People walk long distances, often 1–3 kilometers daily, to fetch contaminated water. Women and children spend several hours each day searching for water. This eats their time for school attendance, farming, and income generating activities.

This well borehole will provide a sustainable source of clean and safe water, greatly improving public health, sanitation, school attendance, food production, and overall economic productivity within the Bukulunya community.
