Hellen & Sophie live in Kitula Village, Uganda

Kitula Village is a rural community in Namuganga Subcounty, Mukono District, Uganda. There are approximately 100 families in this village.

Generally the community is hard to reach since its more than 20km away from any highway and the roads that lead to the village are muddy and slippery. This makes access to basic services very impossible.

Access to safe and clean water is a big challenge for this community. Without a protected water source, people depend on surface ponds and streams for all their water needs. This water is very contaminated and dirty.

There is one community school with an enrollment of 342 children. The school also depends on unsafe water sources.

The school administration has mobilized the community to participate in the Community Funded Well Program. A borehole will be drilled on the school grounds but accessible to all the community.
