Long lines for dirty water at Soona Village

Soona Village is a rural and remote community in the Kayunga district, Central Uganda. There are approximately 180  households and over 2000 people in this village.

Service delivery in this community is still very poor.  Cean and safe water stands at less than 10%. People depend on streams which they share with their animals.

The water situation is made worse by the drying up of the current springs and streams due to much gardening in the swams. There are always many people waiting their turn at the stream and some use it inappropriately, which causes further contamination. For example. many wash their dirty clothes so close to the unprotected stream!

An appropriate drilling point, close to homes, has been identified and work is set to begin.
