Hand dug wells at Madibweni aren’t enough

Madibwani village is situated east of Kwale County and is one of the villages struggling with several challenges. The marketing team visited the town and realized that there was a water problem in the area. With a population of about 1,200 people, many homesteads don’t have access to clean water so they either walk for about 4km or more or use rainwater for several months a year.

There are a few uncovered hand-dug and drilled wells but still, it’s not enough for the growing population.

Madibwani villagers were so excited to learn that the Village Drill machine is a tool that can drill a well at an affordable cost. Community members have worked so hard despite hard economic times to raise part of the drilling funds and they have qualified for the community-funded well program.

In less than a week drilling will commence and we hope they will enjoy clean water soon.
