Village Drills to Madagascar

Village Drills to Madagascar

WHOlives is proud to partner with Operation Bootstrap Africa in an effort to bring 3 Village Drills to Madagascar.

Southern Madagascar has been enduring an exceptional drought for many years.  The population is barely surviving through malnutrition and thirst. It has been nearly two years since the region experienced any substantial rains. More than 1.6 million people have no access to food. Operation Bootstrap Africa has worked with schools in rural Madagascar for over 40 years. The closest fresh water source is a two hour walk away. This water is filled with dirt, microbes, disease, and hungry crocodiles. Due to these dire conditions, it is not safe for the children to go to fetch water. The parents make the journey to the watering hole during the day at great risk. OBA will partner with local villagers and 3 NGOs to build 300 wells in Madagascar. This would ensure that  over 150,000 people have access to clean, potable, safe water for many generations to come.
